"Private gym with squash courts. You can tell the staff..."

Private gym with squash courts. You can tell the staff care and the whole place has a positive vibe.

Have been attending Better Bodies for more than a year, here is my verdict. A gym in Whitehorse with the Yukon largest variety of weight lifting equipment, squash cort and multitude of classes. Posits itself as a gym with an "old-school bodybuilding" atmosphere. However, there are issues: 1) Ridiculously little amount of space, so the gym almost always overcrowded creating lines for the equipment and leaving very little personal space for athletes. Because of the squash courts located just behind the weight room, it brings many squashers and spectators, which exaggerates the problem of overcrowding. I have nothing against squash, however, it would be better to move squash courts to another building, creating more space for the weight room and squash spectators. 2) Very poor maintenance of the equipment. Plates on machines stick, cables are stripped. All the equipment looks very old and shabby. 3) The building is very old too. When it rains, you can see multiple puddles on the floor, and in the gymnastics area 4) Terrible sanitary condition. Poor cleaning in the gymnastics studio, so it stinks like sweat for a long time when classes are over.

We don't really have options for gyms in Whitehorse at the moment. This is a decent option if you're just passing through and need a gym with nearly everything you're looking for. The staff are friendly and helpful, the owner is super kind. Parking can be a little bit of a pain and the ventilation is not the greatest BUT you'll get a good sweat on. The stretching area is superrrr nice and zen and the layout of the entire place just makes sense. They have a large group fitness room, squash courts, weights area, cardio area, etc. Some equipment is sometimes in need of repair but everything gets fixed back up eventually. It's a locally owned business, not a mass corporation so you know you're supporting local when coming here and the more you support, the more your money can go back in to making the place even better. The other option for a gym is the city owned facility so I recommend supporting a small business and getting your membership here 💯

Good selection of strength training equipment and free weights. Has squash courts, kickboxing/fitness studio area, cardio area, stretching area, and spin area all separate from weights area which is nice. They have tried to keep up with maintaining and fixing broken equipment and staying on top of Reno's and building repairs but are still behind. If you don't care about what it looks like and the equipment you want to use isn't broken then it's a decent gym for body building. Usually it is the cardio machines that are out of order so do your cardio outside or bring a skipping rope. Weights and lifting equipment is typically in good working order and they have a little bit of everything. Cost of membership is very affordable and includes a ton of perks. You won't find a gym membership option like this down south. Compared to CGC it's not as well maintained and feels a bit more run down as it's a private business (CGC is owned by the city) but BB has more space and has much better selection of weight lifting equipment than CGC.
