UPDATE (Nov 2021) The Chelmsford Muslim Society are the new owners and operators of Hamptons. This has brought about a few changes. No alcohol served and bars removed. Private hire, tennis and squash are still available even to non members (good!) but some of the regular activities of old have gone. Parking is still reasonable at £1 for non members and members get to park without additional cost. I wish the new owners the best of luck in keeping Hamptons alive to the local community.

Since refurbishment this place has improved a lot, there are ample facilities for tennis and squash and a large hall which can be hired by communities for multiple activities. Pay and display parking for approx 100 cars, for overflow surrounding streets parking can be used. There is a quiet cosy cafeteria on 1st floor which is operated by a very friendly lady and onsite takeaway kitchen serving Indian/Pakistani cuisine. Prayers facilities have been built for members of the Muslim community with ablution area. Current management is working hard to promote diversity and ensuring that this place is used to its full potential.

The club is not perfect, but the new management is working hard to make the centre conducive for squash and tennis players with the limited budget within their disposal. One day, we might have the pleasure of having more than 3 squash courts! Monthly dues is very competitive - well done for this.
