Established in 1846, the Madras Cricket Club is a historic institution that has fostered cricket, hockey, tennis and squash, and is home to the iconic Chepauk stadium. Today it offers extensive facilities, including reportedly the largest set of squash courts in the city, a large gym, tennis, a pool and dining. Members love its vintage charm and prime location, with only minor notes on maintenance and food pricing.

People say this cricket club offers a nice bar and restaurant with a view of the stadium, and serves good food, draft beer, and desserts. They highlight the club's historic significance, lush greens, and great hospitality. They also like the excellent service and the balance between preserving heritage and having modern facilities.

The Madras Cricket Club is a must visit club. Only members are allowed to access the bar and resto. Members can take their friends. Currently there are minor renovations on the interior. They are also doing maintenance in the stadium . The bar and resto is nice and with a view to the stadium. Their draft beer is very nice. The food is also nice. The dessert is also nice. All the food that we ordered was nice. The service is also excellent. I wish to come back again to their bar and watch the cricket match.

While there are records of the Madras Cricket Club (MCC) having its origins in 1846, the club did not have a home ground until 1865. Chepauk, not actually the first choice, which was home to barracks and administrative offices was chosen and permission granted as per GO No 401 dated April 20, 1865.The inside story was that the permission was granted to block access to the Chepauk palace from the rear!
