"Lahore Gymkhana at Shahrah-e-Quaid-e-Azam, Gulberg 5,..."

Lahore Gymkhana at Shahrah-e-Quaid-e-Azam, Gulberg 5, Lahore, is a serene escape with a lush 18-hole golf course, tennis courts, swimming pools, and fine dining. The staff are courteous, and the ambiance blends historic charm with modern comfort. Enjoyed a delicious meal at Caffe 9 with a scenic golf course view. The exclusive, well-maintained setting is perfect for relaxation and socializing. Highly recommend for a refined experience in Lahore! Founded in 1878 as the Lahore and Mian Mir Institute in Lawrence Gardens, opposite the Governor’s House, Lahore Gymkhana was a social and recreational hub. It featured Lawrence and Montgomery Halls, built in 1861-62 and 1866, named after Sir John Laird Lawrence and Robert Montgomery, key British administrators. Renamed Lahore Gymkhana in 1906, it relocated to its current 117-acre Upper Mall site in 1972, now home to an 18-hole golf course and one of Pakistan’s oldest cricket grounds (est. 1878). The first golf tournament, the Champion Medal, was held in 1895. Post-1947, management shifted to locals, with Nawab Muzaffar Ali Qazalbash as the first Pakistani chairman in 1950.

Lahore Gymkhana is one of Lahore’s premium clubs. If you’re a member (or can use it as a guest of a member), it’s a fantastic environment for sports, relaxation, dining, and spending time with family or friends. It offers a high standard of facilities, great ambiance, and a taste of luxury. For someone evaluating whether it’s worth joining: if you value variety of facilities, greenery, cleanliness, and good service—and don’t mind paying for those—then it’s highly recommended. If you are more budget conscious or want something more casual, some expectations may need adjustment. Ambiance & Environment: The grounds are lush and green, with colonial era architecture that adds charm. Walking paths, well-maintained lawns, and overall tranquil atmosphere make it a great escape inside the city. • Diverse Facilities: Offers lots of options — gym, swimming pools (with separate & well-maintained timings), tennis, squash, golf course, indoor courts, guest rooms, restaurants. • Great Dining Options: Restaurants like Thai Chin, Caffe 9, and other eateries inside are praised. Food quality is generally good and there are many cuisines.
