"The least welcoming tennis court"

Peter Kidd

The least welcoming tennis court in the world? Seems to be aimed at people who want to belong to an ultra- exclusive club, rather than people who want to play real tennis. I'll be happy to stay away in future.

Beautiful old building and a members only club, suit and tie required.

Great venue for private events. Food is good and service is excellent. Staff are friendly and helpful.

"What to say? Rather like"

Barry Burton

What to say? Rather like well-aged single-malts and better cigars, this club appeals to people with certain distinct tastes, and perhaps generally shared worldview. If you like that sort of thing, it is one of the more "clubby" clubs in town - an experience perhaps not wholly unlike what one might have had in such an institution in prewar London. I do like that sort of thing, so I have always enjoyed attending functions there, although I am not a member. And, as a bonus, they are one of the few places in North America (or anywhere, really) that offers court tennis! Possibly worth Googling, if the term is unfamiliar and you have willingly read my jottings until this point....
