"Sports part of it is decent competition"

The sports part of it is decent. Competition is good, and it encourages even the novice players warmly. The dress code and other rules enhance the quality of the game. Jogging track is good too. Food is decent, and the buffets are worth every penny. They have decent wines and are quite affordable.
"Purportedly one of the three best private"

Purportedly one of the three best private clubs in India, if I remember a decades old survey correctly. I'd say that's an accurate description. It's a town within a city, with its own library, food court, swimming pool, living quarters, petrol pump, bars and pubs, bank, riding grounds, cricket grounds, lawns, kitchen, bakery, ballroom, open air movie theatre, children's park, nursery, gym and several sporting spaces for tennis, badminton, table tennis, squash, billiards, etc. Admittance into the membership rolls is exceedingly difficult, with a waiting list that is more than twenty years long. Recently, a wing of the old building burned down almost completely and is being rebuilt in keeping with the original structure.

In my opinion Secunderabad club is a beautiful place to relax and rejuvenate... A very calm and beautiful place surrounded with trees best suited for senior citizens who are there to spend some quality time with their loved ones away from the hustle of the city. It has the best state of the art amenities and elaborate spots complex which includes a basketball court a tennis court a swimming pool badminton court and many more which can be checked on the club's official website. The food is very sumptuous and worth a try, the club also organises live events now and then. All in all the club is the best place to visit for a quiet brunch or dinner or even to spend a weekend with your family
"Charming old club recently renovated after fire"

Charming old club recently renovated after a fire. Spacious rooms with a pleasing no frills ambiance (almost Scandinavian feel). Comfortable bed and living area with a separate dressing room attached to a bathroom with an unusually good sized shower. Nice grounds and many facilities (health club, tennis courts, walking track, etc.). Relatively quiet in the hustle and bustle of Hyderabad. "Transit guests" breakfast in separate area was somewhat spartan (mostly Indian) but one could order a somewhat plain, vegetarian omlette. We also had lunch twice in the main dining room, which was quite satisfying. The tandoori lab chops were quite good (reminiscent of the fantastic Burrah chops served at the Copper Chimney in Mumbai), and the ice cream Black Forest cake dessert was so good I had it twice). NO PHOTOGRAPHY IS ALLOWED anywhere on the grounds.

Relaxing and Chilled out Environment. Unwind in different set-ups over drinks, food and bites. Beautifully laid out with nice pools and courts and grounds. One can feel the colonial and nizam vibe blend here. Loved it.
