"I can't really speak for the whole facility, but I play..."

I can't really speak for the whole facility, but I play squash here regularly. The courts are not in the best state of repair, and two of the three have doors that don't latch. Getting a court can also be a hassle since they're almost never available if you just turn up, and the one week in advance you can book over the phone is rarely early enough to guarantee the times you want. You can book two weeks in advance if you do it in person, which will usually get you the time you want, but if you want to change your times or cancel a booking after you've paid, that will also require you to do it in person and with the receipt they give you.

I've been playing squash here for many years, and generally it's been a convenient, great value sports center. However, the cleaners they employ, are generally useless. The squash courts are so full of dust, it's like ice skating than squash. Moreover, the last couple of months the bathrooms are disgusting; at least 3months of built up grime, coupling with an excrement oder.

First of all, there is nothing wrong with the facilities, they are well-kept, relatively modern (but wearing out), and usually clean. I'm very greatful for such a place, so in the spirit of improvement, I'm writing this so it can continue to better serve its community. The reason for the one-star review is safety concerns. I've seen several instances now where the staff will not enforce the safety rules clearly and publicly posted. For example, during a busy time at the pool, two swimmers crowded out a third in the lane by following too closely and pushing him. Both are against the rules: when staff were told, they asked the victim to move lanes rather than remove the bullies from the pool. The staff then proceeded to tell the victim that this kind of thing is how people do things in Taiwan and that the two bullies were friends, so it was ok for them to disregard the very clear rules posted. This sort of thing will only encourage more and more unsafe behavior. All over this island you see the slogan "safety first" (安全第一), but this is clearly ignored here.
